Australian Jamboree – AJ2025

What is a Jamboree?

The Australian Jamboree (AJ) is a camp that is held every three years by Scouts Australia and is the largest event on the Australian Scouting calendar.  It regularly attracts around 10,000 Scouts, Venturer Scout helpers and Leaders.  The 26th Australian Jamboree ‘AJ2025’, will be held in Maryborough Queensland and runs from the 6th to the 15th of January 2025.

A Jamboree is often described as an “experience of a lifetime”. How else can you describe 10 days packed solid with adventure, excitement and fun? How else can you describe a city of 10,000 where everyone is a friend? How else can you describe a Scout camp that is so big it has to have its own hospital, post office, newspaper, radio station, bus station and mail?

The Purpose of a Jamboree is…

to provide young people with an active program that encourages participation and elements of self-directed learning and includes activities that stimulate their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, character and spiritual development singularly and collectively leading to character development; thus assisting the young person to develop the attributes of good character as determined by the Scout Promise and Law. It should be the culmination of all they have learnt in Scouting.
