BP Lodge, Cradle Mountain

BP Memorial Scout Lodge, Cradle Mountain.

This property is controlled by the Mersey District. A permission to camp form is required from all Scout Groups.

The BP Memorial Scout Lodge is situated within the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park and a Tasmanian Parks Pass is required for entry into the Park.

The Lodge is reached by walking for approximately 45 minutes from the "walker registration point" at the Ronny Creek car park.

The Lodge accommodates a maximum of 14 people. It has fixed bunks for 12 people and by rearranging the seating on the western wall a further 2 people are able to sleep comfortably.

The Lodge is well insulated and has double glazed windows; there is a gas heater in the main room and solar lighting throughout the hut.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, crockery and cutlery. Running water is on tap to the kitchen, washroom and to a flushing toilet which is on a septic system. Outside there is a 6 burner BBQ which can double as an oven along with a water cooled refrigerator.

There is a roster of duty hut wardens throughout the year, they ensure everything is OK at the hut.

Please note: This facility is above the snowline; it is recommended that only experienced groups should attempt to arrive after dark during the May to October period as the walking tracks can be very icy underfoot and weather conditions can be extreme.
