30/6/26: Trouble with your Recycle Rewards Charity Fundraising account? (E.g. your fundraiser has expired and your bar code no longer works). You need to contact TOMRA Cleanaway directly as Scouts Tasmania does not have access to your fundraising account. Send your request to: charities.tas@tomra.com
30/6/26: Agfest Fundraising funds have now been distributed. Congratulations to the 18 Groups and Units that worked as ‘Binfluencers’ and helped Scouts launch Recycle Rewards collection at Agfest 2026. We collectively contributed a total of 714 volunteer hours and recycled 18,569 eligible containers. Scouts would like to acknowledge the support of Rural Youth and the Waste and Resource Recovery Board for sponsoring this project.
28/5/26: Recycle Rewards – one year anniversary! Congratulations to Scout Groups around Tasmania – thanks to your diligent efforts, we can confirm that we’ve collectively raised $26,952.10. Every 10c container returned is a win for the environment and a win for Scouts!

CREATING YOUR FUNDRAISER:
Every Scout Group in Tasmania is encouraged to register a Recycle Rewards fundraiser so their Scouting parents, families, work colleagues and community supporters can donate their container refunds.
Scouts Tasmania Branch office can help register your Group, with the first step being an short webinar introduction for your Treasurer. Please email recycling@tas.scouts.com.au, note your Group name and request a link to the Treasurer Training webinar. A session takes approximately 20 minutes. Once you have this overview, Scouts Tas Branch will provide you with the necessary registration paperwork to create a fundraising account with TOMRA Cleanaway.

MARKETING YOUR FUNDRAISER:
The first thing to remember with container fundraising is that it is a ‘numbers game’ – so don’t keep your fundraiser a secret!
Spread the word – tell as many people as possible!
Reach out to your family, friends and other members of your network, like coworkers, classmates or neighbours. Word of mouth is still one of the most effective ways to promote your Scouts’ fundraising initiative.
The following resources and tips will help your Group get started – keep checking back as more resources become available.
SHARE YOUR CHARITY BARCODE
Every Fundraiser has a unique ‘Charity Barcode’ which your supporters show to either Depot or Refund Point staff, or scan at the barcode reader of the Reverse Vending Machine. Download this helpful letter template and share your Charity Barcode with Scout families, friends, neighbours, work colleagues and community supporters. [download .doc, 220 KB]
ADVERTISE YOUR FUNDRAISER AT YOUR SCOUT HALL
Scouts Tas Branch office is printing Scouts-branded internal and external posters and marketing ‘packs’ which will be available to collect at the annual AGM on May 30th in Longford. If your Group isn’t sending a representative this year, ask around and find out who could collect it for you. Recycle Rewards customisable posters can be found here.
SET UP AN EXTERNAL COLLECTION POINT
Many Scout Groups set up collection points at their workplaces or Scout-friendly businesses – don’t be afraid to ask, every 10c donation counts! This draft ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ can be customised to suit your circumstances and will help you plan with the business owner any logistical considerations. [download.doc 66 KB]
PROMOTE ON SOCIAL MEDIA and NEWSLETTERS
Use social media to engage your community. Remind your supporters how they can contribute to your fundraising goal by using the social media tiles and assets supplied in the Recycle Rewards Brand kit – many of these can be customised to include your Group name. Keep your community updated, celebrate milestones, and thank them for their support!
