The badge depicts Cradle Mountain, one of Tasmania's best known peaks and the northern gateway to the famous Cradle Mountain to Lake St. Clair National Park.
The Scout Hiking near Cradle Mt. is an accurate depiction, as the District maintains Baden Powell Lodge, a high standard alpine cabin, some 1 hour walk beyond the end of the road.
This cabin is widely used by Tasmanian Rovers, Venturers and Scouts, as well as mainland visitors.
