Leven District was created in the 1970s and is essentially the Ulverstone municipality.
Until the creation of Leven, scouting in the Ulverstone area had been part of the North-West District.
The badge depicts Black Bluff, one of Tasmania's ten tallest mountains which is directly south of Ulverstone and within the District boundaries.
